The Roberts School District board voted unanimously Jan. 15 to purchase 'Soma Skills,' a professional development program for teachers.
During approval of the Dec. 18 minutes earlier in the meeting, Chair Michelle Swansborough had asked that a sentence describing the Professional Development Contract be revised to reflect that "this platform would allow for a standardized teaching of respect and communication skills." Trustee Joel Bertolino moved to approve the purchase of Soma Skills; Trustee Brad Norman seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Board members did not attach conditions to the purchase in the minutes; the district did not provide additional contract details at the Jan. 15 meeting.
Next steps: the district will implement the program with teachers; contract and rollout details were not specified in the minutes.
