The Natchez‑Adams School District Board of Trustees approved a package of financial documents, agreements and program contracts after its Sept. 19, 2024 meeting at the Braden Administrative Building in Natchez.
Business & Finance Manager Timothy Byrd presented the August 2024 reconciled bank statement, statement of revenues and expenditures, current budget status, the district maintenance monthly cash flow and the combined balance sheet. On a motion by Vice President Phillip West and a second from Dr. Brenda Robinson, the board voted unanimously to accept the claims docket and financial statements.
The board also approved a debt service fund amendment (motion by Dr. C. Dianne Bunch, second by Phillip West) and renewed workers' compensation insurance with Stephens & Hobdy Insurance (motion by Dr. C. Dianne Bunch, second by LLJuna Grennell Weir). Both motions passed by unanimous roll call votes.
Separately, the board approved a set of operational agreements and program items, including a 2024–25 MOU between NASD and MAPS; an MOU between the Fallin Career & Technology Center and AJFC for a Youth Build program; and The Hubb Network consultant for Natchez High School. It also approved out‑of‑state and overnight travel requests for Natchez High School athletic teams and the band, and the 2024–25 athletic schedules for NHS boys and girls basketball and baseball. Motions on these items were typically moved by Phillip West or Dr. Brenda Robinson and passed 5-0.
Several facility‑use and lease items were discussed. Use‑of‑facility requests for the Xi Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority (bus shop parking lot) and Alcorn State University men's basketball (NHS gym) were initially moved to executive session and later approved after the board returned to open session. The board also ratified supplemental leases for community organizations and directed the school attorney to move forward with developing a lease agreement with the Boys & Girls Club for Robert Lewis Magnet School.
One item was tabled: the board did not approve the 2024–25 Dropout Prevention Plan and left it on the agenda for future consideration.
The meeting record shows all roll‑call votes on approved items were unanimous unless otherwise noted in the minutes.
