Natchez-Adams board approves personnel, finance reports, student travel and a lease with Boys & Girls Club

The Natchez-Adams School District Board of Trustees met Dec. 17 at the Braden Administrative Building and approved a package of routine consent and action items, including personnel recommendations, November financial statements, student travel requests and a lease with the Boys & Girls Club for RLMS.
Mrs. LLJuna Grennell Weir, Secretary of the board, moved to approve the Nov. 21 meeting minutes; Mr. Phillip West, Vice President, seconded the motion and the board approved the minutes on a 4-0 roll-call vote. The board then approved consent items covering retirement/disposal of equipment, staff travel, 2024–25 parent and family engagement plans, 2025–26 test security plans, approval of Apple as a brand-specific vendor, and donated property for Fallin CTC.
Business & Finance Manager Timothy Byrd presented November 2024 financial materials — including the reconciled bank statement, statement of revenues and expenditures, current budget status, the district maintenance monthly cash flow statement and the combined balance sheet/current fund equity balances — and the board approved the claims docket and accepted the financial statements by voice vote (4-0).
Other approved action items included the transfer of sixteenth-section interest, the FY25 project application for Exceptional Services, contracting a social-emotional learning consultant for ACCS, and overnight/out-of-state travel for Natchez High School and Natchez Early College Beta Clubs and AFJROTC travel to Monroe, La. Mrs. LLJuna Grennell Weir and Dr. Brenda Robinson were among those who moved or seconded motions during the action-item sequence; all recorded votes reported were unanimous (4-0).
The board also approved two facility-use requests: Braden Auditorium for the Natchez Christmas Tree event, and use of the Natchez Middle School gym by the Natchez Basketball Association. In a separate action the board approved the lease drafted between the Natchez-Adams School District and the Boys & Girls Club for RLMS, a motion moved by Mr. Phillip West and seconded by Dr. Brenda Robinson that passed 4-0.
The meeting included informational items: a 30-day policy review presented by Executive Director of Student Support Ernest 'Tony' Fields and a board calendar update. Superintendent Zandra McDonald gave a superintendent's update on Term 2 activities, holiday events and a planned joint PTA event at Natchez High School in January.
The board entered closed session later to discuss possible litigation and personnel matters; no formal action was taken in executive session. The meeting adjourned at 5:22 p.m.
