Frankfort adopts pay-structure changes and closes a portion of Airport Road

The Frankfort Board of Commissioners adopted two ordinances during its Jan. 26 meeting.
Ordinance No. 1, 2026 Series, amends City Code Sections 37.31 and 37.32 to update the City of Frankfort salary schedule by creating two new lieutenant positions and reclassifying one existing lieutenant position. The ordinance had a prior first reading Dec. 15, 2025 and was adopted on second reading by a 5–0 roll-call vote after a motion by Commissioner May and a second by Commissioner Richardson.
Ordinance No. 2, 2026 Series, closes an unused portion of public right-of-way on Airport Road in Frankfort pursuant to KRS 82.405. The ordinance, also having had a first reading on Dec. 15, 2025, was adopted by a 5–0 roll-call vote following a motion by Commissioner Unger and a second by Commissioner Smith-Willis.
The Board also noted that a first-reading ordinance related to providing sewer services outside city limits was tabled and will be considered later.
