Roberts board raises four salaries to meet TEACH Act threshold, schedules ESSER closeout meeting, and approves policy on first reading

At its Oct. 23 meeting, the Roberts School District board approved a package of budget- and policy-related items including salary adjustments to meet TEACH Act eligibility, scheduling a special meeting to close out ARP ESSER funds, and a first reading approval of Policy 7326 on claims documentation.
Superintendent Alex Ator told trustees that during teacher negotiations the district had underestimated the minimum salary threshold for the TEACH Act by $250; the eligibility cutoff is $36,750. He recommended increasing the salaries of four staff members'024 to $36,750 from $36,500 to qualify for the incentive. The board voted unanimously to raise the salaries for Rio Chadde, David Jarussi, Lisa Young and Theresa Kosel to $36,750.
Ator also said the district will likely need a special meeting to approve the ARP ESSER plan closeout; Chair Michelle Swansborough suggested meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 30 to complete that business.
On policy, Ator recommended approval on first reading of Policy 7326 (Documentation and Approval of Claims), which sets documentation standards, required approvals and business office procedures; the board approved the policy on first reading unanimously.
Superintendent Ator additionally reported budget context: the district is operating at roughly 87% of its maximum allowed budget (about $200,000 below the cap) and that roughly 20% of the district budget comes from local taxpayers. The board set its next regular meeting for Nov. 20, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
