The Roberts School District No. 5 Board of Trustees voted July 29 to adopt the Eureka Math Squared curriculum and to use remaining ESSER III funds to complete grant closeout spending, including a separate custodial supply purchase.
Superintendent Alex Ator told the board teachers reviewed several math programs and chose Eureka Math Squared, which he said was expected to place less emphasis on heavy reading than the district's prior materials. Ator said the purchase would include roughly 60 copies of each book by grade and an optional online component, and that teachers would be permitted to adapt the materials where necessary.
Trustee Joel Bertolino moved to adopt Eureka Math Squared at a cost of $28,710.10; Trustee Michael Bissonnette seconded. The motion carried unanimously with Chair Michelle Swansborough and Trustees Nick Dobbel and Brad Norman joining Bertolino and Bissonnette in the affirmative.
In the same meeting the board approved an order from Hanson Chemical for custodial supplies totaling $20,595.81. Trustee Joel Bertolino moved to approve the Hanson Chemical order and Trustee Nick Dobbel seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Board members also voted unanimously to approve the amendments needed to close out the district's remaining ESSER funds as presented in the superintendent's spreadsheet. The minutes record the spreadsheet as an attachment but do not itemize every line in the meeting text.
The purchases and amendments were presented as part of the board's grant closeout process; the minutes note that the spreadsheet outlining those uses was provided to board members. The board did not record any dissenting votes or conditions attached to the approvals.
The meeting proceeded to an executive session on a personnel matter later in the evening and adjourned at 9:25 p.m.
