Residents urge River Ridge CDD to fix Pinehurst drains as ponding nears top of outlet

Shari Perkins, a River Ridge resident, told the Board on July 23 that "a week after the street drains were plugged, the drainage issues persist; water has been overflowing in the triangle monument area." She asked the Board to address two drains at the Pinehurst monument and relayed that another resident, Fred Kronke, reported a retention pond between River 8 and River 9 "appears to be non-functional; ponding is occurring and is nearly 1' above the drain," creating a flooding concern.
District Engineer John Baker said the original problem — water from one system routing into another — was addressed when an inlet was plugged, but that left "no place for the water to go" and the condition is now "akin to a very tiny pond in a pipe." Asked for a solution, Mr. Baker said it "will likely require additional study" and emphasized the importance of photographic and video evidence to help staff resolve the issue. The Board directed staff to have the District Engineer view the drainage firsthand.
Mr. Baker and staff asked residents to provide documentation of observed flooding. Ms. Perkins said she will obtain video footage and provide it to CDD staff. The Board did not adopt a remedial plan at the meeting; staff will follow up and the issue remains on future agendas until the engineer's review and any recommended repairs are completed.
