Sedan council accepts mayors resignation; Kathy Miller sworn in and Adam Clark named council president

Kathy Miller was sworn in as mayor of Sedan on Feb. 17 after the City Council accepted Mayor Bryan Blankinship's resignation. The council unanimously approved the resignation and then voted to appoint Adam Clark as president of council.
The council meeting, called to order by President of Council Kathy Miller at 5:30 p.m., included a motion by Adam Clark to amend the agenda to add the resignation and an oath of office, which passed "0 Nay to 4 Yay votes." President Miller read Mayor Bryan Blankinship's letter of resignation and Angela Evans moved to accept it; Wellington Butler seconded and the motion carried.
City Clerk Lana Smith administered the oath of office to Kathy Miller immediately after the resignation was accepted. Mayor Miller then said she would like Adam Clark to serve as the new president of council; Crystal Wade moved to appoint Clark and Angela Evans seconded. The motion passed with the recorded result of 0 Nay to 4 Yay votes.
Pam Koerner offered public comment during the meeting, apologizing for walking out of the previous meeting and saying she had "watched all she could with the elected council members treating each other with disrespect"; she urged civility and cooperation among council members going forward.
Votes and routine approvals at the meeting included the amended agenda and the consent agenda, both approved unanimously. Angela Evans thanked outgoing Mayor Bryan Blankinship for his two years of service and welcomed Kathy Miller as the new mayor.
The council concluded the meeting with routine business and adjourned at 6:27 p.m.
