Soldier Township approves lot purchase and authorizes closing for planned fire station

Trustee Chad Gerhardt called a special meeting of the Soldier Township Board to order at 3:30 p.m. on July 21, 2025. Clerk Mike Mathes moved to approve a purchase agreement and payment of funds and to authorize Administrator Audree Guzman to execute closing and financial documents for the acquisition of a lot on North Topeka Boulevard; Treasurer Jerry Glasgow seconded the motion and, after discussion of the financial benefits of the acquisition, “the motion carried.” The minutes do not record a roll-call tally or a dollar amount for the purchase.
The board heard an update from design and engineering representatives Elizabeth Johnson, Jennifer Hannon and Jessica Dawkins of HTK and Sam Stallbaumer of KBS on the design and budget process for the planned new fire station.
