The Sedan City Council convened Jan. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall, where Mayor Bryan Blankinship presided as Adam Clark, Crystal Wade and Wellington Butler took their oaths of office. After Clark stepped down as council president, he moved to appoint Kathy Miller to the position; Angela Evans seconded and the motion carried unanimously, recorded as 6–0 in favor.
The council approved an amendment to the agenda to add CDBG grant bid openings and then approved the amended agenda. The body approved minutes from the Dec. 16 regular meeting and the Dec. 30 special meeting, and voted to pay bills totaling $107,709.63; those consent motions passed with unanimous recorded tallies of 6–0.
City Clerk Lana Smith presented routine financial reports and said roof-bid decisions remain pending while staff verifies contractor registration with the Attorney General's office, general liability and workers' compensation insurance, and surety-bond documentation.
The meeting concluded after motions to enter three brief executive sessions on personnel matters and an adjournment at 7:10 p.m.; the minutes record no formal decisions from those closed sessions.
The council indicated it will try a proposed new agenda format at the next meeting.
