The Board of Education on March 9 accepted several personnel changes and approved new contracts for district administrators and coaches.
The board accepted resignations from teachers Carrie Harrold and Michelle Bair, both effective at the end of the 2025–26 school year, and accepted the retirement of Business Manager Dave Schmidt, effective July 1, 2026. "The board accepts these personnel actions," the minutes state; motions to accept the resignations and retirement were made and seconded as recorded and carried.
The board approved administrative contracts for Steven Novotny as Superintendent/Principal and Diane House as Principal, each effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028. The motion to approve the administrative contracts was made by Mark Graber and seconded by David McComb and the motion carried.
During an executive session on negotiations held under the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA), the board later appointed Mark Graber and Nicole Curtis as its representatives on the negotiations team. Jerry DeWeese moved the appointment; David McComb seconded and the motion carried.
Separately, the board accepted the resignation of middle-school head boys basketball coach Lee Kendall and approved a set of supplemental coaching contracts effective March 2, 2026: Jill Nech (MS assistant track), Sam Fisher (MS assistant track), Mike Neifert (HS assistant track), Cade Perez (HS assistant baseball) and Jennifer Newell (HS assistant softball). Motions to approve the supplemental contracts were made and carried.
The meeting record lists the motions, movers and seconders for each action and notes each motion "carried." The minutes do not include vote tallies or further detail on the reasons for personnel departures. The board adjourned at 9:22 p.m.
