Staff reported Amanda conducted required observations and declared the trees a hazard in locations near the concession stand, pavilion and parking areas.
A contractor quoted $5,000 to remove and grind the trees and stumps; staff said the contractor could begin immediately if the council approved. Council discussed whether to reallocate funds from general parks/tree-removal accounts and confirmed there is $5,000 budgeted for tree removal this fiscal year (allocated mainly for ash tree removals) but that this park removal is a separate, urgent need. A motion to approve the removal carried.
Council instructed staff to proceed with contracting the work and to follow up on budget revisions as needed.
