Commissioners approve accounting-system purchase, RFP and support plan; accept maintenance supervisor resignation

Cameron County Commissioners on July 2 approved several administrative contracts and planning steps and accepted the resignation of the county’s Maintenance Supervisor.
The board approved quotes from Tyler Technologies for a project accounting system as part of the Strategic Management Planning (STMP) Grant Phase 2. Commissioner Herzing described the AP Automation upgrade work and confirmed that grant funds would cover the Tyler Technologies purchase; Commissioner Zucal moved to approve the quotes, Commissioner Moate seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
In new business the commissioners approved a Mobilcom Customer Support Plan (motion by Commissioner Moate; second by Commissioner Zucal; motion carried) and authorized an RFP for consulting services to implement STMP Phase II (motion by Commissioner Zucal; second by Commissioner Moate; motion carried). The minutes also list a motion to retroactively approve a purchase‑of‑service agreement between Cameron County Children and Youth Services and attorney George N. Daghir; the mover and seconder for that item are not recorded in the minutes.
The board accepted with regret the resignation of Maintenance Supervisor Henry Jack Wilson; minutes list his last day of employment as August 21, 2026. The Chief Clerk’s report noted that Mr. Wilson assisted with records transfer and relocation of storage files earlier in June.
Commissioner Herzing said staff are testing a new AP Automation system alongside the accounting upgrade and that a consultant RFP for a compensation analysis was finalized as part of the STMP grant work. The commissioners said the county will pursue a Solar Farm ordinance next, now that the Data Center Ordinance process is complete.
The meeting adjourned at 12:10 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Driftwood Senior Center.
