Cameron County approves Act 13 grants for recreation center, road repairs and security cameras

County staff estimated roughly $348,516 was available for new 2026 allocations after accounting for existing commitments.
Commissioner Moate moved to approve the request from Guy & Mary Felt Manor for $19,390 toward a $29,085 comprehensive security camera installation; Commissioner Zucal seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The application states the cameras are intended to improve resident and staff safety, expand surveillance coverage and reduce liability.
The board next approved a $50,000 Act 13 award to Lumber Township toward a roughly $83,457 bituminous seal-coating project on Routes T-301, T-303 and T-327. Township representatives told the commissioners they would provide the remaining funds from other sources.
Commissioners also approved a $12,500 award to Driftwood Borough for local roadway repairs; staff noted the borough has submitted the project to the Multimodal Transportation Fund as a contingency. Finally, the board updated an Act 13 allocation to cover IT equipment, installation and public Wi‑Fi for the Recreation Center revitalization project, which had prior Act 13 support for IT upgrades and furnishings.
