Township adopts Blue Cross Blue Shield/KMIT plan, raises employer share to 75% for family coverage

Guzman presented a 2026 proposal from Day Insurance recommending that the township move coverage from AETNA and Freedom Claims to Blue Cross Blue Shield administered through KMIT, and raise the township contribution for employees with dependent and family coverage to 75% of the monthly premium. Board members discussed differences in policy coverage and employee out-of-pocket costs as part of the decision process.
Member Jerry Glasgow moved to adopt the 75% KMIT share option; Trustee Chad Gerhardt seconded the motion and it passed unanimously, 3-0. The board approved and signed KMIT Resolution 2025-05 at the meeting. The minutes do not include detailed premium amounts, employee cost projections, or effective dates beyond the board action recorded on Nov. 10, 2025.
