Skyline Schools Board approves consent agenda, hears ADA audit timeline and KSDE recognitions

The Skyline Schools Board of Education met in regular session on Dec. 8, 2025. Board President Rex Robinson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and the board approved the meeting agenda on a motion by board member David McComb, seconded by Jerry DeWeese. The motion carried.
The board then approved the consent agenda, which included the minutes of the Nov. 10 regular meeting, approval of bills for general and special funds, activity and petty cash, the treasurer’s report and SCKSEC minutes. Nicole Curtis moved to approve the consent agenda and David McComb seconded; the motion carried.
Superintendent Becca Flowers delivered the superintendent’s report, which included an update and timeline for an ADA/Civil Rights audit and an informational preview of the upcoming state legislative session, scheduled to begin Jan. 12, 2026. The report also listed recognitions awarded to the district by the Kansas State Department of Education: Kansas Can Copper Start Recognition, Kansas Can Bronze Star Recognition and the Commissioner’s Honor Award.
Principals Diane House (elementary school co-principal) and Steven Novotny (high school principal and middle school co-principal) reported on building activities, attendance and winter benchmarking. House also offered a recap of a recent visit by U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran. The board discussed the 2026–27 school calendar; no final calendar action was recorded in the minutes.
Administrators provided informational notes about professional learning and networking opportunities. A sub-committee updated the board on the front-door facilities project and reported that the district consulted a law firm for an inspection or review related to that project. The board reviewed KASB (Kansas Association of School Boards) December policy updates as a “first look” only; no policy changes were voted on at the meeting.
