At its Nov. 11 meeting the Swisher City Council approved several formal actions and financial items.
Resolution 71: Payout to contractor — The council approved Resolution 71 to pay Dave Schmidt Construction $132,695.50 for work on the sanitary sewer project through Oct. 31, 2024. During the vote the mayor called for a roll call: Klein, Henick, Pujol and Stagg were recorded as "Aye," and the motion carried.
Resolution 73: Project acceptance — The council approved Resolution 73 accepting the 2024 sewer pavement rehabilitation completed by Klessner Construction.
Resolution 74: Utility account write-off — Council approved a resolution authorizing the city clerk to write off a utility account as uncollectible.
Noise-ordinance complaint response — After reviewing code examples from nearby municipalities and following legal counsel's recommendation, council agreed to send a formal letter to the resident who filed a noise complaint documenting the city's current ordinance; staff said the letter establishes a record that will be needed for any future enforcement.
Paper-billing option — Finance staff proposed switching from postcards to paper utility bills with a monthly newsletter printed on the back at an estimated additional cost of about $200 per year; council voted to switch to paper bills.
Bond repurposing inquiry — Council approved directing staff to ask the bonding attorney about repurposing leftover Division Street bond funds for the parking-lot project or other needs, contingent on county reconciliation of outstanding project financials.
Each action that required a motion was supported and approved by the council as recorded in the meeting minutes. Where roll-call votes were taken, member names were recorded in the transcript.
