Guthrie council adopts smoking ban in city buildings and tightens use of paid time off

Attorney Traughber presented the proposed changes during new business. Russ Longhurst moved to accept the amendments and Harry Green seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Council members recorded no public comment on the item during the meeting.
The change to the PTO policy was described in the meeting summary as an enforcement shift: employees will be required to use accrued sick or vacation time before unpaid leave is permitted, and unpaid time off may be granted with mayoral approval after PTO exhaustion. The smoking prohibition applies to city-owned buildings and vehicles.
