Youth ball returns and board seeks volunteers, creates donation application; insurance review ordered for pickleball court

The Troy Recreation Board confirmed that Derrick Jasper will run the youth ball program again this summer and that sign-up sheets will be distributed within the next two weeks.
Board members said they will need head counts and age-group information for both girls and boys to satisfy insurance requirements. The board also reaffirmed its policy that Student Sports covers half of costs up to $250 for youth sports, and members agreed to continue donating to a list of school sports (MSVB, MSFB, MSBB, HSFB, HSVB, HSBB). To better track donations and costs, the board directed staff to create a formal application for youth sport donation requests to keep historical records.
On adult and junior summer leagues, the board reviewed materials on running leagues (pickleball, cornhole, disc golf) and asked the public to volunteer to run leagues. The board discussed operational considerations for pickleball courts and tournament hosting and agreed to request a policy review and quote from GrainBelt to ensure adequate insurance coverage; minutes record that Rob will request the policy review and a quote.
The board also discussed signage rules for pickleball courts, trash can procurement and issuing a mowing/trash bid request to support court maintenance. Staff will follow up on volunteer recruitment, finalize the donation application and obtain an insurance quote for the pickleball facility.
