Volleyball tournament, maintenance requests and tree-stand planning on committee agenda

Betsy Hinds, a committee member, said she will install volleyball-court boundary lines before the Wellness Committee’s sand-volleyball tournament scheduled for July 3–4 and that she has a carabiner clip to keep the storage-box lid from blowing open. Committee members noted buried concrete anchor blocks used for boundary corners are about 26 feet, 3 inches from net ends and roughly 3 feet deep; bungee straps attached to those blocks hold the corner straps.
Jennifer Whetstine measured the net and reported its height is acceptable, though the committee noted the crank and crank setup for the net may need replacement at some future point. Smith reported she aired up newly purchased volleyballs and volunteers confirmed readiness for the tournament.
Selena Smith said she will contact Jim Horner to request the city crew remove a fallen limb leaning behind the shelter house and mow a path through the native-grass area to improve pedestrian access. The committee also agreed to follow up with Tip Top Tree Service later in the summer if they decide to hire that vendor for additional work.
The committee scheduled a mid-August on-site meeting regarding a proposed tree-stand improvement project that will include the committee, Mayor Micheal Brissett, Luke Terry of Custom Forestry Applications and city crew representative Jim Horner. Committee members said the meeting will allow a more detailed review of proposed tree work and contractor planning.
