Pool repairs, pickleball work and summer events highlighted at Solomon council meeting

Public Works and recreation staff provided a cluster of operational updates to the council during the June 2 meeting that affect the pool, parks and library site work.
Public Works (written report read by City Clerk Andrea McCook) said crews found a crack in the deep end pool paint; repairs are planned for August or September. Technicians repaired urinal plumbing and plumbing leaks under pool decking so the pool opened on time; McKees will install cool decking over the repair patches. Work on the pickleball courts is underway: the crew has formed ramps on both sides and expects to pour toward the end of the week. The Ohl clean-up begins the following day and the director will meet with KDHE the next morning to start work; two roll-offs have already been delivered to the property. After those projects staff plan to build a pergola and a trash enclosure at the library site.
Recreation Commission member Kyle McCook said the Dive‑In Movie is set for June 14 and the recreation staff plans a cardboard boat race at the pool on July 13; he added that Laurel Overlease has contacted the commission about starting a chair-yoga class and staff are exploring the option. City Clerk Andrea McCook reported the city has reached 365 pet registrations, chicken inspections will begin this month, auditors will be on-site Thursday to complete an audit, and pool employees are now set up in Gusto for scheduling and time tracking; she also said phone service and free public Wi‑Fi are functioning at the pool.
Municipal Services Clerk Krista Radke gave a court-docket update: 21 cases in May (7 first appearances, 10 pay-or-appear, 4 set for status), two cases being monitored and one on a payment agreement. She said there will be no court in June and the next court date is July 17 at 4:00 p.m.
These operational updates were presented in lieu of formal agenda business because the council lacked a quorum; no action items were taken on these reports during the June 2 meeting.
