President Jason Winder called the Troy Unified School District 429 Board of Education to order on Feb. 9, 2026. On a motion by Member Stephen Bowe, seconded by Member Nathan Geiger, the board approved the meeting agenda and later approved vouchers and the consent agenda, which included the district’s ADOPT grant for computers and a supplemental duty appointment for Chaz Williams as TMS boys assistant basketball coach.
The board voted to adopt the 2026–27 academic calendar after a motion by Member Tim Grable that Member Nathan Geiger seconded. The meeting record shows the motion carried.
The board entered executive session twice under the non-elected personnel exception to the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA) to discuss staffing for 2026–27 and administrative evaluations; principals and other staff were temporarily dismissed during portions of those sessions. After returning to open session, Vice President Jennifer Luedke moved and Tim Grable seconded a motion to extend three administrative contracts for an additional year; the motion carried.
The minutes record no public forum comments and show the meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. Clerk Janel K. Anderson signed the minutes.
What it means: The calendar approval sets the district schedule for the coming academic year. The contract extensions signal continuity for district leadership; details of personnel discussions were held in executive session as permitted under KOMA and are not recorded in the public minutes.
Provenance: The actions described above are documented in the meeting minutes (approval motions: SEG 005, SEG 008, SEG 028–029; calendar: SEG 030; executive sessions: SEG 038 and SEG 041; contract extension: SEG 043; adjournment: SEG 044).
