Nine signs installed at Troy disc-golf course; baskets to be set after concrete cures

Selena Smith, a member of the Troy Community Park Committee, reported that on Aug. 28 contractor Logan Merz of Merz Ink and Jim Horner of the City of Troy helped install nine hole signs and the main course sign for the new nine-hole disc-golf course at Troy Community Park. Smith said crews also installed collars on posts intended to receive the basket assemblies.
Smith said the baskets themselves will be set on the posts after Quikrete cures. Padlocks were attached at the base of the basket posts to reduce risk of removal, and Smith said she will contact Jake Newton about pouring concrete tee pads; Merz recommended an 8-by-3-foot pad as adequate.
Merz suggested small, low-cost amenities to improve course use, including hooks on the backs of sign posts for disc bags, a box for found discs, additional trash cans and benches placed strategically along the course.
Committee members noted Merz had not yet been paid for the posts and the Quikrete. Smith said a grand opening or open-house event for the course is being planned for a future date once installations are complete.
The committee did not record a final payment motion for Merz in the minutes; members agreed to follow up on outstanding invoices and scheduling for a public opening.
