Spring Hill Cemetery Board OKs AB3 gravel edging, records tornado cleanup and defers filming request

President Larry Sumner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. at the Civic Center in Spring Hill. Christine Hecke read the April minutes; Keith Stiles moved to accept the minutes, Ashley Thron seconded and the motion passed 7-0. Treasurer Joy Rose presented the treasurer's report; Christine Hecke moved to accept it, John Nevius seconded and the motion passed 7-0.
Under old business, the board considered edging material for the blacktop. Keith Stiles made a motion to use AB3 gravel instead of dirt for the edging; John Nevius seconded and the board approved the motion 7-0. The board recorded that Claar Tree Trimming cleared downed trees after a recent tornado and billed the board for emergency work; the minutes note cleanup was completed but do not list a dollar amount for that invoice.
In new business, a movie production team requested permission to film in the Spring Hill Cemetery in June. The board did not decide at the meeting; Ashley Thron will contact the production company to gather additional information before the board takes up the request. Board members also noted remaining storm damage: some headstones and vases need repair and the cemetery fence requires work. The board confirmed plans for the Memorial Day ceremony: the event will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 25; volunteers will place flags along the cemetery driveway at 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 22 and remove them at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26. Joy Rose moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m.; Ashley Thron seconded, and the motion passed 7-0.
