Spring Hill Cemetery Board approves tree-removal bid; accepts minutes and treasurer’s report

The Spring Hill Cemetery Board met at 7:00 p.m. on April 7, 2026, at the Spring Hill Civic Center. President Larry Sumner called the meeting to order and the board moved through routine business, approving minutes and a treasurer’s report before approving a bid to remove several trees.
Christine Hecke read the minutes of the March meeting. Board member Polly Mahoney moved to accept the minutes “as read,” and Keith Stiles seconded; the board recorded the motion as passed, 6-0. Joy Rose presented the treasurer’s report; Keith Stiles moved to accept it, Susan Crawford seconded, and the board again recorded a 6-0 vote in favor.
Under old business, the board confirmed that cemetery brochures will be available at the city office, Bruce Funeral Home and the Chamber of Commerce. President Larry Sumner said he is soliciting bids for dirt to be used for edging at the cemetery.
The board approved a bid from Claar Tree Trimming to remove several trees from the cemetery after Joy Rose moved to accept the bid and Christine Hecke seconded; the motion passed 6-0. Keith Stiles moved to adjourn, Ashley Thron seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
