The Town of St. George’s council voted unanimously on April 14 to submit a Capital Investment Plan requesting $72,273 in gas-tax funding from the Canada Community-Building Fund for drainage and asphalt rehabilitation.
Resolution #6/26 authorizes the town to seek funding to undertake critical drainage upgrades and asphalt rehabilitation on Diamond Crescent, Parson’s Lane, Station Road and Muise’s Lane. The minutes say the project is intended to address known drainage deficiencies, protect existing assets and improve public safety.
Deputy Mayor Bernie Mason and Councillor Sharon O’Neill-Parsons took part in the discussion and the motion was recorded as passed 7-0. The minutes do not provide an engineering scope, project timeline, or a detailed budget breakdown beyond the $72,273 request.
Council described the project as aligning with the long-term objectives of the Canada Community-Building Fund; further project planning and any contracting will follow if funding is awarded.
