Bret Kendrick moved and Chantry Scott seconded to purchase a 2026 Chevrolet Suburban from Lewis Motors of Dodge City for $61,572; the motion carried 7-0. The board reviewed two other bids: a Chrysler Pacifica for $41,000 and an Excursion for $69,575, and chose the Suburban from the vendors presented.
On staff support, the board approved the superintendent’s recommended mentor stipend: $1,000 for mentoring one teacher and $1,500 for mentoring two. Superintendent Dave Novack had told the board that 14 teachers would need mentors this year; the board approved the pay amounts as presented (motion by Bret Kendrick, second by Bobbie Ehrlich, carried 7-0).
The board also approved a bid from JR Audio for $31,010 to install a football-field public‑address system. Chantry Scott moved to accept the JR Audio bid; Val Zumudio seconded and the vote was 7-0.
Separately, Paige German moved — and Chantry Scott seconded — to permit a transfer from contingency to the general fund as directed by the District Office; the board approved the transfer 7-0. The minutes do not specify the dollar amount.
Board members discussed concession-stand revenue sharing during the same item set. Clerk Melissa Wilson said the current split is 60% district and 40% clubs; she said she would be willing to try a 50/50 division but expressed concern that a larger club share might leave the district unable to cover costs. The board directed staff to contact other districts to survey local practices and return with information at a future meeting.
The purchases and pay schedule are effective as approved at the Aug. 11 meeting. The board did not attach additional restrictions or contingencies in the minutes; staff follow-up was requested for concession-split benchmarking and any implementation details.
