Resident Alex of Battle Creek asked the board to recognize Trans Day of Remembrance and World Children's Day, reciting national statistics about violence and suicide among transgender people and offering a list of humanitarian concerns tied to international conflict and children's welfare. Alex said the remarks were intended to prompt thought and solidarity.
Other commenters described procedural disputes at the joint planning commission and the challenges of township-city relations around tax abatements and planning recommendations.
County staff and administration acknowledged public concerns during the budget and project discussions; no formal county action on the MEG site litigation was taken at the meeting.
