Council approves on-sale liquor license for Jake’s Hometown Liquor

The Wanamingo City Council approved an on-sale liquor license for Jake’s Hometown Liquor on a 3-0 vote March 10, 2025.
Applicant Jason Grant told the council he thinks "Wanamingo could use a second bar" and described plans to operate a basic bar at the north end of the existing off-sale liquor store using the north-door entrance. Grant said the planned hours are 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with Sundays closed "for cleaning and time off for staff," and that he intends to have a food truck located outside for patrons.
Councilmember Rebecca Haugen moved approval and Eric Dierks seconded; the license was approved unanimously. The council did not attach additional conditions in the recorded motion.
