Commission places historic-preservation grant, library reading grant and tennis permit on agendas; CEO notes courthouse tile work

The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Commission on March 10 placed several routine community items on its special-meeting agenda and received a facilities update from county staff.
Clerk Jessica Dailey and Chair Kevin Hart said Grant Agreement Amendment No.1 with the Montana State Historic Preservation Office and the Montana Historical Society extends the contract term from April 1, 2025, through August 31, 2026; the amendment and a Certified Local Government grant application (listed for May 1, 2026, to April 31, 2027 in the packet) were put on the special-meeting agenda for final action.
"Gayla did a nice job writing that out," Commissioner Mike Beausoleil said, praising staff work on the CLG application. Chair Hart said the CLG and amendment items relate to material that county staff will discuss again at the upcoming special meeting.
Chair Hart also said the Town Pump Charitable Foundation offers an annual $1,000 "Keep Kids Reading" grant to public libraries in Montana to help fund summer youth reading programs; the county has participated previously and the item was placed on the agenda.
On a facilities note, CEO Bill Everett reported that first-floor tile replacement has started and is expected to take two to three months, with most work scheduled in evenings and weekends to limit daytime disruption. "It should be nice when it's done," Hart said after touring the new tile by the CEO's office.
The commission confirmed that Anaconda High School's request to use the tennis courts and pool from March through May 2026 had the necessary signatures and was pending a certificate of insurance, which Clerk Jessica Dailey said she had on file. No public comments were offered during the work session.
