A student, Nathan T., described his experience running for student council president and participating in the mock election, saying the exercise made voting “feel real.” Elections staff said the hands‑on approach is intended to instill civic habits so students will be more likely to register and vote when they reach eligibility.
Elections staff said the initiative also offers practical training—students who complete the program may serve as poll managers during general elections—part of a broader effort to increase registration and turnout.
