Ben Bailey, representing auditors Keddington & Christensen, told the Ely City Council on Dec. 11 that the firm issued a clean opinion on the City’s financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2025. "They're materially stated, so it's a clean opinion on the financials," Bailey said, adding that the auditors found no control or compliance findings during testing.
City Treasurer Janette Trask said the financials and audit were received before the November 30 deadline and that staff cooperated closely with the audit team. The audit report noted implementation of the new accounting standard GASB 101 for compensated absences; auditors reported no uncorrected or unusually large misstatements.
The Council voted to accept the audit by motion. The approval completes the City’s routine annual financial reporting and preserves eligibility for state and federal grant programs that require a completed audit. The Council did not request further follow-up reports during the meeting.
