LaMoure County staff outline road, bridge and paving plans; flex grant applications due Sept. 19

LaMoure County road staff and an engineering contractor updated the Board of County Commissioners on a series of road and bridge projects at the Sept. 2 meeting, and outlined plans tied to an upcoming flex funding grant deadline.
Road Superintendent Darrick Nitschke told commissioners the road crew would begin sweeping County Road 35 that day and expects to fog-seal the road the following week. He said chip sealing at Memorial Park is complete and will be fogged, and that he is waiting for a quote from Border States for patch work on the lake road; that patch work would be covered by a grant.
Bryan Tykwinski of KLJ Engineering reported the Adrian bridge is scheduled to be moved in mid‑September with construction beginning this fall, and that the Grand Rapids bridge realignment hopes to finish by mid‑summer 2026 after necessary dirt work. He told the board the box culvert north of Edgeley is complete.
The commission discussed flex funding grants, which are due Sept. 19. Plans described in the minutes include hot‑in‑place and microsurfacing on CR 64 from Highway 13 south to Dickey County and hot‑in‑place on CR 61 and CR 62.
Nitschke also reported that CR 65 north of Jud has had patches ground and filled with gravel but no further work to date.
The commission took no immediate vote on these projects at the Sept. 2 meeting; staff will proceed with project planning and submit grant applications as appropriate.
