LaMoure County commissioners approve routine business, join opioid settlement and authorize park site

The LaMoure County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 2 approved routine agenda items, authorized placement of a Gladden Construction job shack at Memorial Park, agreed to participate in the secondary opioid settlement and approved county bills, all by unanimous vote.
LaMoure County commissioners unanimously approved routine business and several motions at their Sept. 2 meeting, including permitting a construction site at Memorial Park and agreeing to participate in the secondary opioid settlement.
Commissioner Jason Weigel moved to approve the meeting agenda with additions; Commissioner Wayne Wald seconded and the motion carried. Commissioner Bruce Klein later moved to approve the Aug. 19 minutes with corrections; Commissioner Bob Flath seconded and that motion also carried unanimously.
Commissioner Bob Flath moved to allow Gladden Construction to place a job shack at Memorial Park; Commissioner Wayne Wald seconded and the board voted all aye. Commissioner Bruce Klein moved that the county participate in the secondary opioid settlement; Commissioner Bob Flath seconded and the motion carried without dissent.
The board also addressed veterans-service coverage. Commissioner Jason Weigel moved to keep the county at its current rate with Barnes County Veterans Service and to accept Dickey County’s offer if Barnes County rejects the counteroffer; Commissioner Bob Flath seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
County Auditor Jan Hamlin advised the board she will proceed with the approved 2025 budget transfers.
The commission reviewed and approved payment of county bills as presented. The vendor list included several large payments, such as $2,070,788.70 to Central Specialties Inc., $287,057.35 to Gladen Construction and $151,012.07 to KLJ Engineering. Commissioner Bob Flath moved to pay the bills as presented; Commissioner Bruce Klein seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Chairman Keith Heidinger adjourned the meeting at 10:05 a.m.
