Southport City’s Board of Aldermen held ceremonial oaths of office for newly elected officials and recognized outgoing leaders during the meeting.
A formal recognition was read honoring Frank for his public service; the Board then administered oaths of office to multiple officials. The meeting record includes multiple officers reciting the standard oath promising to support the constitutions of the United States and North Carolina and to faithfully discharge the duties of their offices for Southport City.
Later in the meeting, Alderman Kelly moved and Reverend Alderman Lou Davis seconded a motion to appoint Alderman Karen Mosteller as mayor pro tem. The Board voted and the motion passed 5 to 1.
Public commenters used the occasion to raise community issues: Pat Kirkman urged the Board to act on historic preservation and on repairs at a 233‑year‑old burying ground, describing broken stones and a lack of clear records. Sue Hodgen and the Southport Garden Club thanked staff and volunteers for Winterfest and other community events.
The meeting closed with aldermen offering holiday thanks to staff and volunteers and a motion to adjourn passed by voice vote.
