Emerald ash borer found on private property in LaMoure County; cost-share help available

LaMoure County Extension Agent Julianne Racine informed the Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 19 that the emerald ash borer has been found on private property within the county.
Racine said that because the detection is on private land, the state Department of Agriculture cannot enforce removals on that property. She advised commissioners that cost-share reimbursement programs exist to assist landowners with shelterbelt removal and replanting. Racine also said there are currently no traps set for the insect in the county because the emerald ash borer remains in the larval stage.
