LaMoure County commissioners hear update on chip sealing; dust control raised for County Road 34

At their Aug. 19 meeting, the LaMoure County Board of County Commissioners received an update from Road Superintendent Darrick Nitschke on the county’s chip-sealing work.
Nitschke said the crew is finishing up chip sealing and that he and Commissioner Bob Flath attended a hot-in-place demonstration to assess the quality and integrity of the product and the processing. Commissioner Wayne Wald raised a concern about dust control on County Road 34. Nitschke told the board that the products used were intended for stabilization and "may help with dust control" but emphasized they were applied for stabilization purposes, not as a dedicated dust-control treatment.
The discussion did not include changes to project scope or new funding requests. Commissioners did not vote on any additional roadwork at the meeting. The board will continue monitoring road performance and any resident complaints tied to dust or surface deterioration.
