Knoxon board certifies trustees by acclamation, reorganizes leadership and swears in new trustees

The Knoxon School District board opened its May meeting by certifying the trustee election results and administering the oath of office to newly elected trustees.

An elections official read the canvas and declared that candidates who filed for trustee positions were elected by acclamation, naming Kyra Boster, Vanessa Ramsey, Eric Oldenburg and James Byler among those certified by the board. The board then administered the oath of office to the newly elected trustees.

After the oath, the board moved into its annual reorganization of leadership. A motion to elect the nominated candidate for board chair passed by voice vote. Trustees then nominated and approved a vice chair; the motions carried on voice votes with no recorded roll‑call opposition.

The board also approved a personnel motion to appoint Tammy Mercer as district clerk. Trustees thanked Mercer for her service and discussed next steps for negotiating a formal contract and setting terms for the clerk role.

The meeting’s consent agenda — including approval of high school and elementary claims and payroll warrants — passed after brief questions about specific line items. Trustees discussed a rental fund and a house‑maintenance item before approving the warrants by show of hands.

The board concluded these opening items and moved on to the meeting’s business agenda, including several new‑business votes and contracts.
