Mayor Kelvin Penrod opened the Minnesota City council meeting at 7:00 p.m. on May 12. The council unanimously accepted the April 14 meeting minutes and then approved the Treasurer’s Report for April. On motions by Councilor Joe Pellowski, seconded by Councilor Angie Bohnstengel, the council also authorized payments for a list of bills totaling $5,883.85.
The disbursement list included multiple Xcel Energy charges for municipal electric and wastewater accounts, People Service Inc. for the wastewater plant contract ($1,660.00), Deluxe for checks and deposit supplies ($856.71) and several smaller vendor charges; the minutes present the line items as the basis for the payment motion. The minutes record the total disbursements to be paid as $5,883.85.
Council records show the homeowner at 124 Minnesota Street connected to the city sewer on April 30, 2026. Because the connection met city requirements, the council removed a $100 monthly penalty fee for that property; the minutes state that all homes are now connected except the old school building, which still requires hookup.
Councilor Hollis Donehower reported he has obtained quotes for crack repair work on Iowa Street, Minnesota Street, the Bridge and Lake Street; the minutes do not record a funding decision on those quotes. The council scheduled its next meeting for Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall and adjourned at 9:24 p.m.
The minutes were submitted by Tina Full.
