The Mayville Common Council approved a set of routine items including licenses, an appointment, a land-lease award and a grant application.
Licenses and appointments: Council approved operator licenses listed in the packet and took action on resolution 6077-2026 to grant 2026–2027 liquor and fermented malt beverage licenses to New China of Mayville LLC and Family Dollar Store of Wisconsin LLC; council also approved resolution 6078-2026 to grant 2026–2027 tobacco and cigarette retail license to Family Dollar Store of Mayville LLC. Under municipal code 22-5(a) the mayor presented resolution 6079-2026 to appoint Brian Worley to the Mayville Police and Fire and EMS Commission to fill the term through Apr. 20, 2027; the council approved the appointment by voice vote.
Land lease: Staff reported four proposals in response to RFP RP032026400 ranging from $1,800 to $4,100 per year for a three-year lease; "the high bidder was, Mr. Olsen out of Mayville at $4,100 per year," staff said, and the council voted to authorize execution of the lease effective Aug. 1, subject to attorney review.
Grant application: Council approved resolution 6080-2026 authorizing submission of a Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Opportunities Attraction Fund application for a $50,000 downtown improvement grant. The mayor said the grant would add $50,000 toward a downtown park project approved previously.
The meeting also included approval of minutes from June 22, committee meeting schedules, and the May/June finance registers.
