Laddonia aldermen approve street-sealing contract, cemetery tree removal and routine financial items

The Laddonia Board of Aldermen on June 18 approved a street-sealing and repair contract with Mid River Asphalt Inc., authorized full payment for tree removal at the city cemetery and approved routine May financial items, each by 4-0 votes.

Mayor Tresa Hodges called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the board approved the agenda after a motion from Dwayne Hogue and a second from Jeremy Fendrick. "Welcome to everyone," Hodges said as the meeting opened.

The board voted 4-0 to accept the low bid for street sealing and repairs from Mid River Asphalt Inc.; Gary Garnett moved the motion and Dwayne Hogue seconded. The board also approved the May 2026 meeting minutes (motion by Kevin Charlton, second Jeremy Fendrick), the May monthly reports (motion by Fendrick, second Charlton) and the May warrant list (motion by Hogue, second Fendrick), each passing 4-0.

Separately, the board approved paying the full amount for tree removal at the city cemetery after a motion from Fendrick and a second from Hogue; that motion also passed 4-0. City officials set a separate meeting to finalize the FY 2026–2027 budget for Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 7 p.m.; no final budget action was taken at the June 18 meeting.

The actions taken were procedural approvals and contract authorization; the board did not attach additional conditions to the Mid River Asphalt contract in the minutes. The meeting adjourned at 8:48 p.m.
