Board approves Pitney Bowes amendment to restore mailing presort, shortens term to three years

The Richmond Sanitary District Board voted July 14 to amend a previously approved Pitney Bowes agreement to add a back-end presort software service at an estimated $200 per month and to shorten the contract term from five years to three.
The director explained that a custom database used previously to produce presort certifications failed a month to six weeks earlier and that, while bills are still being mailed, the district is not receiving the lower presort postage rates. The director said switching on Pitney Bowespresort functionality would cost about $200 per month but likely produce net savings of roughly $300 nd up per month when compared with current postage costs.
"Every bill is going out," the director said, noting the issue was lost presort capability, not lost billings. The board approved the contract amendment on a voice vote (motion by Bakshi; second by President Miller).
