The Richmond Sanitary District Board on July 14 voted to enter a three-year agreement with RouteWare to provide routing and fleet-management software for the district—leet, with a one-time implementation fee of $15,000 and a recurring subscription cost of $38,640 per year.
The director, presenting the recommendation, said the software will pair with installed GPS units and front-facing cameras to map routes turn-by-turn, enable route optimization, and make it easier to reassign stops when equipment or staff are unavailable. "It will really, really make that much more efficient," the director said.
President Miller asked about measurable savings. "I'm sure it would be almost impossible to tell what your savings would be," Miller said, noting fuel, labor and wear-and-tear reductions would be difficult to quantify precisely. The director acknowledged the challenge, saying some benefits are "soft costs" but emphasizing the system—ould reduce callbacks and manual reassignment work.
The board approved the motion to enter the agreement (motion by Bakshi; second by President Miller). The motion carried on a voice vote.
