Staff: Westwater treatment-plant project making slow progress; assessments underway

Staff member (speaker 1) told the board the Westwater treatment-plant project will remain a standing agenda item for the next 18–24 months and that several technical reviews are underway.
"We are gradually making progress through the processes of archaeological assessment of the property ... and environmental assessment," the staff member said, adding that American StructurePoint is the designer and that the Indiana Finance Authority and the Southern Indiana Development Commission are assisting. The presenter noted that consultant Wessler was not present at the meeting because the staff member named Tyler was on vacation.
The staff member said there is a "laundry list" of approximately 19 issues flagged in the construction-permit application that remain the designer's responsibility. Board members agreed to continue circulating IDEM correspondence and consultant comments to the relevant staff and to check original email headers to see who was copied on agency comments.
No formal decisions or votes were taken on the project during this meeting; the staff member said the item will return to future agendas and that updates will be shared as agency reviews and design work proceed.
