The Port Edwards finance committee moved to centralize resident budget requests through a single intake form and tracking spreadsheet to ensure requests are logged and routed to the appropriate committee ahead of budget season.
Ben (administrator) said he would draft a short online form that would auto-fill into a spreadsheet, keep submissions in the village server for open-records compliance, and share the running list with committee chairs. Committee members said the change would help prevent surprise requests during regular meetings and allow the village to evaluate requests’ costs, benefits and return on investment before budget hearings.
Ben also presented a first-quarter administrative update, saying department heads appear on track and that snowplowing and salt accounts look in reasonable shape. He described hiring plans for seasonal public-works help: the village received three summer-help applications (one returning applicant) and Ben estimated a roughly $5,000 difference between hiring two versus three seasonal workers; he favored hiring two or possibly three depending on retention.
Separately, a committee member reported the village had lost its volunteer supervisor for aquatic-plant harvesting on Nipco Lake and asked members to refer retired candidates interested in supervising Monday–Thursday summer work; the committee discussed that the position will now require pay and recommended outreach to potential candidates.
The administrator said he will return with a proposed intake form within one or two meetings and will include related items in the next committee packet. The meeting adjourned after routine correspondence and scheduling items.
