Anita Ross, supervisor for the field program specialists in the central area of the Office of Chief Counsel's Finance and Management Division, said she has worked for Chief Counsel for 31 years and has used the agency's Human Resources Investment Fund to take management and career-development courses.
Ross said Chief Counsel "represents the Internal Revenue Service and Tax Court and provides legal advice," and described her division as one that "handles the budget and the expert witness program." She said her office provides training and management supports that help tax attorneys and staff advance.
On the expert witness program, Ross said she works to "resolve issues that we encounter with procurement during the expert witness process regarding the policies and the procedures." The transcript does not record a response or a specific corrective action tied to that remark.
She described Chief Counsel as a supportive workplace: "We have training, great benefits, telework options, and great people," Ross said, adding that staff members "all work together" and "when one goes down, we all lend a hand to assist." She closed by saying the office is "like being part of a large family."
