Advisory-board appointments approved; two reciprocal abstentions recorded

Council voted to appoint Randy Wilson to the advisory board on a motion by Randal Stephens, seconded by Dorene Beverly. The motion passed with five ayes; Wilson abstained from the vote. The council then approved Jason Hunter’s motion to appoint Larry Risner, seconded by Randy Wilson; that motion also passed with five ayes and one abstention (Risner).
Mayor James Twaddle used his report to address internal communications, saying an employee had raised a concern with council members and the solicitor rather than bringing it first to the mayor. "The unfortunate part of this issue is that no one came to me with this concern," he said, and added, "I'd rather speak with you face to face, as opposed to finding out about it on Facebook or through an e-mail."
