AKRON, Mich. — The Village of Akron Council approved a package of routine financial and administrative items at its May 19 meeting, including a tax form, vendor payments and office renewals.
Council members voted 5-0 to approve bills, obligations and payroll totaling $25,668.11 and separately approved the Michigan L-4029 tax rate request after Treasurer C. Wilson presented the monthly report and said numbers matched the records. "Motion by: M. Strasz to approve the L4029 Tax rate Request. J. Carr seconded the motion. All in favor with 5 Yays and 0 Nays," the minutes record.
The council also approved purchase of postage (eight rolls of postcards and three rolls of first-class) totaling $722 and approved renewing the SAMS registration for a five-year term at $1,999. "Motion by: M. Strasz for the approval of the $722.00 in stamps," the record shows; motions on both purchases passed unanimously.
Clerk Charlynn Wilson told the council that the BS&A online payment system is now live and residents can pay utility bills and taxes online; a stripe reader is also available in the office for card payments. The minutes list Fun Day and other agenda items but show no new tax increases beyond the L-4029 filing.
The council's approvals were procedural and unanimous; the minutes do not list additional conditions or contingencies for these items.
