AKRON, Mich. — The Village of Akron Council voted unanimously May 19 to authorize a grant application for new self-contained breathing apparatus gear for the fire department.
The council adopted Resolution No. 19-2026 after the fire department reported 12 runs for the month — eight of them in the previous three days — and described recent and planned training. "The Fire department will be practicing tactics at the Judd Rd brush pile burn on May 20th," the minutes record. The grant requires a 10% local match and the application deadline is June 22; the council noted the Village will split the match with neighboring townships.
