The City Council approved its meeting agenda by a 4–1 vote, canceled the regular Dec. 1 meeting by unanimous vote and later voted unanimously to go into closed session to consult with the city attorney.
Alderman Kelly (S4) moved to accept the agenda as presented; the mayor announced the vote as 4 in favor and 1 opposed. The council then considered and unanimously approved a motion, moved by Alderman Kelly, to cancel the regular Monday Dec. 1 meeting in the election year because new members will be sworn in at the first regular meeting.
Late in the meeting the mayor called for a motion to enter closed session for attorney consultation. The motion was moved and seconded and carried unanimously; the board reconvened afterward and adjourned by unanimous vote.
The meeting record shows the votes and actions but does not provide a written outcome of the closed session; no formal ordinance, resolution or hiring decision was disclosed publicly following the closed session.
